The Best Sexual Lubricants

Sex isn't always as romantic, easy or clean as our favourite blockbusters, TV or porn. In fact, it can often be clumsy, awkward and messy.

Lube is the fastest, easiest and probably most effective preventative measure that can be taken against dry and abrasive behaviour. It can also help prolong lovemaking and make masturbation more enjoyable for yourself. While pornography can teach you this, it is essential for anal sex.

Even if you think you're having good sex, you should consider the benefits of using a personal lubricant. Pleasure can be quick, lasting love goes well and you and your partner will avoid any post-coital pain that you might otherwise experience from all the friction.

Firstly, almost all lubricants on the market fall into one of three categories: water-based, silicone or oil-based lubricants. While each has its own advantages and disadvantages (some are particularly aimed at vaginal dryness, others are better suited to anal sex), the most popular lubricant by far is the water-based one.

The best lubricants for sex

Here is more information on the different types of lubricants, from water-based to silicon-based.

Water-based lubricants

Because they are water-soluble, they are absorbed by the skin and mucous membranes. This makes cleaning a breeze: with a little warm water or some soap, the oil can be easily washed off the skin.

But its solubility also means that you may need to reapply regularly, depending on how busy you are. This is one of the main drawbacks of water-based lubricants, as we all know that interruptions can be the last thing you want to happen at the hottest of times.

Water-based lubricants have the added advantage of being fully compatible with condoms, whereas oil-based lubricants can corrode latex (which is more susceptible to corrosion later) or good old fashioned Vaseline. A point to note, however, is that many water-based lubricants contain glycerine, which can promote female infection and force a quick clean after sex.

Silicone-based lubricants

Silicone-based lubricants are similar to water-based lubricants, but are usually better lubricated and last longer, but have a thinner texture. In fact, this is their main advantage: silicone-based lubricants take a long time to dry. They are not dirty or messy and do not need to be reapplied.

What's more, they still work well. Unlike water-based lubricants, silicone is not easy to clean. Those who don't like silicone based lubricants say that using them is like putting oil on your parts, while others swear by them.

Oil-based lubricants

Oil-based lubricants are not as popular as the first two. Firstly, they corrode latex, so you can't use it on condoms. Secondly, they're usually made from ingredients that are harmful to women's vaginal health. And finally, they're sticky and dirty.

Especially now that more and more people are buying sex dolls, it's important to find a lubricant, whether it's a silicone doll or a tpe doll they need to be lubricated first so you can be sure you'll have a more comfortable lovemaking environment when you have sex with her.
